Plastic is everywhere. It's your food and your water. It's in your clothes and it makes up almost everything you touch. A recent study shockingly showed that the average person consumes 5.25 grams of plastic a week, around the weight of a credit card.
Good news is, there are things you can do to lower your microplastic consumption. Wearing 100% cotton clothes is an example of an easy way to avoid touching plastics. Not only that but studies have shown that wearing underwear with polyester decreased fertility in men. Another quick way to avoid a weekly credit card is to drink out of a metal water bottle. It only takes a couple of hours of your water sitting in plastic, even if it's BPA-free, for it to leech toxic levels of plastic. This study was done in the dark, not even accouting for the effect of sunlight and UV on speeding up this process. In conclusing, take steps to stay away from plastic.
