Estrogenics are artificial substances that act as estrogen on your body. These substances vary from fragrences, toxic chemicals, to plastics.
1. Buy a Metal Water Bottle
When your water sits in plastic, microplastic leech into your body. These plastics are most commonly estrogenic. An easy way to lower plastic consumption is to buy a stainless steel water bottle.
2. Buy 100% Cotton Pajamas
While it might be inconvinient to buy 100% cotton clothes to wear during the day, pajamas are an easy switch. 100% cotton pajamas are extremly comfortable and it's not a sacrafice. Having polyester in your clothes drives infertility. Why not just buy comfy and safe 100% cotton pajamas.
3. Don't Keep Your Phone In Your Pocket
While this mostly applies to males, it be smart to stay on the safer side and never put your phone in your pocket. Doctor Andrew Huberman explain in a AMA podcast the dangers of leaving your phone in your pocket. Firstly, he explain the danger of having EMF raditation so close to the testicles. The radiation affects the sperm in ways that can drive infertility. Secondly, having an object in your pocket increases heat around the testicular area. This can also affect the sperm negatively.
4. Stand Up More
As stated previouly, heat can negatively affect sperm. Sitting down traps heat around your testicular area. This doubles the risk of high levels of sperm DNA damage. Dr. Huberman reconmends sitting at a maximun of 4 hours a day for optimal sperm quality.
5. Keep Things Cool
The reason that the testicles are outside the body is because the tesicles need to be 2 degrees celcius lower than the rest of the body for spermatogenesis to optimally occur. It is reconmeded to avoid saunas, hot tubs, and overall the excessive heating of the testicles. Additionally, make sure to not wear too tight underwear, trapping the testicles in heat.
6. Soy No More
Soy has been shown to have estrogenic effects on the body. It would be smart to avoid things containing soy, especially soy protein or soy isoflavones.
7. Wholesome Ingredients
So many personal care products are packed full with estrogenics. Parabens and phalates lurk in the fragrences and artificial coloring put in those products. These chemicals drive infertility and impacts sexual development in kids. Invest in products made with wholesome, non-estrogenic ingredients.
